Restoration

Sonnning Quarry

The proposed restoration schemes for Phases D and E would return them to agricultural land, preserving the pastoral setting of Sonning Eye, whilst also creating nature conservation habitats such as areas of grassland, woodland, wetland habitats and water bodies.

Through restoration, we’d aim to achieve a biodiversity net gain – meaning we will leave the site with an increased level of biodiversity compared to what’s there now.

The extraction areas will be restored as we go, meaning that not all of the extraction phases would be under operation at any one time. We anticipate the restoration taking two further years to complete once extraction operations cease in the given Phase.
